College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences

Department of Natural Resource Sciences

Admission Procedures

Admission into our graduate program is dependent upon a faculty member's willingness to act as the student's advisor in addition to basic academic requirements. Two complete files are made from your application. One is kept at Graduate School and one at the department. Please send us the yellow copy of the graduate application form plus official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended, GRE scores (photocopy is acceptable for evaluation purposes only), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for proficiency of non-native speakers of the English Language, three letters of recommendations - there is no specific format required (to be sent directly to the department by the individual writing the recommendation) and completion of the supplemental application. The $35 application fee (no exceptions) must be send directly to the Graduate School.

Students wishing to be considered for an assistantship should plan on taking their GRE's as early as possible. GRE scores are considered in combination with all other materials submitted. We do not have a specific minimum standard with respect to GRE scores, however, most successful applicants have composite GRE scores of at least 1650, with no single test score falling below 500. Applications for state/federally funded assistantships (if available) are evaluated starting in late January, with the first assistantship offered in February for fall exceptance. Applications for the spring semester are evaluated starting on October 1, with the first assistantship offers mailed on November 1.
